“For I, the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, ‘Fear not, I will help thee.” – Isaiah 41:13 (KJV)
Does the question, “Do I have sufficient faith to see me through this season of my life?” constantly occupy your thoughts?
Do you doubt your faith in God when the situation appears to be getting from bad to worse, and do not get the answers you are expecting, or the time frame of your expectations has expired?
Do you often feel you must do something to help God qualify you for more faith?
Take control of those thoughts by getting stuck into God’s Word, holding onto His promises, and focusing your thoughts on the truth.
The truth is that everything we receive from God we receive by faith in His grace. These include:
– We are saved by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9)
– We fight the good fight of faith (1st Timothy 6:12)
– We walk by faith (2nd Corinthians 5:7)
– We are made righteous by faith (Romans 5:1)
– We are healed by faith (Mark 5:34)
The more of God’s grace and love we receive, the more our faith takes root and springs forth.
As children of God, we should choose to live out our faith in God’s Word rather than faith in ourselves, our works, our abilities, or our contacts.
It is not having faith in faith. It is having faith in God’s Word. Because God said it in His Word, it has already happened, so faith is not trying to make something that is not already there happen. Faith is bringing out of the unseen – what is already there, what is already true of you.
We must know what God’s plans for our lives are and have faith that He will bring them to pass. Let your mind stay on Jesus and His finished work at the cross.
Focus on the divine exchange that took place at the cross, and see the Holy Spirit transform your lives to the extent that faith springs forth instinctively.
Prayer
Father God, in the name of Your son Jesus, I pray that we build our faith on Your faithfulness. Help us, Lord, to embrace the truth that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever, and You are waiting with open arms to receive us and perform Your Word. Thank You for being our God of love and grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
